Suga sends condolences to quake-hit Turkey

Japan's Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide has sent a message of condolence to Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan after a powerful earthquake and tsunami hit the country.

Suga said he was saddened to hear that the quake left many people dead and caused heavy damage.

He said that on behalf of the Japanese government and people, he would like to express his heart-felt condolences to the victims and offer sympathy to all those affected.

Suga also said he is praying for the quick recovery of the injured and for the reconstruction of the affected areas at the earliest possible time.

He went on to say that Japan, like Turkey, has suffered major damage from many earthquakes, and that the two countries have helped each other in past disasters.

Suga said Japan will always be with Turkey as the country tries to overcome the current difficulties.
