Thailand's agriculture minister has visited a farmer's market in Chiba City, near Tokyo.
Grisada Boonrach made the visit on Monday after attending a meeting of Group of 20 agriculture ministers in Niigata over the weekend.
The market in Chiba is operated by the Japan Agricultural Cooperatives, or JA.
Grisada observed how the market is run, and heard about the system by which cooperatives give instructions to farmers on production methods and quality control.
The Thai minister also tasted locally produced strawberries and peanuts.
He said the market enables farmers to secure a place to sell their produce, while consumers can buy safe food at lower prices. He added that Thailand's agriculture industry can adopt some of the market's ideas.
