Tokyo Disney Parks To Reopen From July 1

Tokyo Disney parks to reopen from July 1

The operator of Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea says the theme parks will reopen on July 1. Located just outside Tokyo, both have been closed since February 29 due to the coronavirus outbreak in Japan.

Oriental Land said on Tuesday that only people who purchase tickets in advance can gain admittance for now. The measure is to prevent infections. Tickets will be available online from 3 p.m. on Thursday.

The theme parks will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the time being.

The operator says it will limit the number of people using attractions, restaurants and other facilities. Some will remain closed. It says it is considering limiting admission to shops selling merchandise as well.

Visitors will be requested to wear face masks and have their temperatures taken at the entrance gates.

Other theme parks in Japan have reopened or are planning to do so soon. Universal Studios Japan in Osaka welcomed back visitors from June 8. Sanrio Puroland, located in a Tokyo suburb, plans to be back in business from July 20.
