Public transportation services are mostly back to normal following Tuesday's quake, but services are suspended on some local railway lines.
East Japan Railway Company says the Tohoku, Yamagata, Akita, Joetsu and Hokuriku Shinkansen bullet train lines are operating normally on Wednesday.
Among local railways, the Uetsu Main Line is suspended between Murakami Station in Niigata Prefecture and Sakata Station in Yamagata Prefecture.
On the Rikuu West Line, operations will be suspended until around 11 a.m. on Wednesday between Furukuchi Station and Amarume Station in Yamagata Prefecture.
The Yonesaka Line is in full operation, although trains are running more slowly than usual.
For air travelers, Yamagata and Shonai airports have regular flight services on Wednesday.
All sections of expressways in Yamagata Prefecture are open to traffic.
