Police say 32 people are injured after a truck collided with an express passenger train at a railroad crossing in Yokohama, south of Tokyo.
The incident happened at around 11:40 a.m. on Thursday morning. Footage taken shortly after the collision shows heavy black smoke rising from the wreckage. Aerial shots appear to show the remains of a truck beside a train car that's leaning off the rails.
So far, police and fire department officials have released few details on what may have led up to the crash.
Police say the driver of the truck was pinned under the train as a result of the impact. He is now being treated in hospital.
Passengers and the train's driver were injured.
The train was heading south from Aoto station to Misakiguchi station. The Keikyu train company has suspended services near Yokohama's waterfront, between Keikyu Kawasaki station and Kamiooka station.
