Typhoon Krosa lingers over Ogasawara Islands

Japanese weather officials are warning of fierce winds and rough seas as a large and powerful typhoon is almost stationary around the Ogasawara Islands in the Pacific.

They say severe weather is expected to continue through Monday with high waves and thunderstorms.

The Meteorological Agency says Typhoon Krosa will slowly move to the northwest. It is forecast to approach western Japan's Pacific coast around Wednesday.

Weather officials are urging people to check for the latest updates on the typhoon. Millions of people travel by air, land, or sea during the traditional Bon summer holidays in mid-August.
