Typhoon Krosa May Approach Western Japan

Typhoon Krosa may approach western Japan

A large typhoon hovering over the Ogasawara Islands is forecast to approach coastal areas of western Japan later in the week.

Japanese weather officials are warning residents around the islands of severe weather through Monday. They say high waves and thunderstorms are expected.

The Meteorological Agency says Typhoon Krosa will then slowly move northwest.

It is expected to bring high waves along the Pacific coast of western and eastern Japan beginning on Monday as it advances.

The storm comes at a time when millions of people are expected to travel for the Bon summer holidays.
