A Japanese woman has been fatally stabbed by her husband when she was going to a court that would mediate their divorce settlement.
On Wednesday afternoon, police were alerted that a woman was stabbed at the entrance to the family court in Tokyo.
The 31-year-old woman was found bleeding with stab wounds in the neck. She later died in hospital.
Police say the woman was stabbed just before undergoing security checks.
The 32-year-old husband, an American national, fled the scene but was later caught in a nearby park. He was arrested on a charge of attempted murder.
Police found the man was carrying three knives with him and had injured himself on his arm.
Police suspect that the man waited near the court's entrance for his wife to arrive and then ambushed her.
