World Expo organizers promote Japan in Dubai

Organizers of the World Exposition to be held in western Japan in 2025 have promoted the country's attractions in the United Arab Emirates.

This came on the sidelines of preparatory meetings that governments taking part in the Expo 2020 Dubai began on Friday. The Dubai Expo is being hosted in the Middle East for the first time and will run for about six months from October 20.

Officials of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition invited about 400 government officials and business representatives to a promotional event for the Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai.

The association's Secretary General Hiroyuki Ishige said Osaka has long been open to the world for trade and commerce.

He emphasized the significance of the event being held in Osaka.

The participants enjoyed a Japanese drum performance and footage showing notable tourist sites such as Osaka castle and the Great Buddha statue in the ancient capital of Nara.

A Romanian man affiliated with the exposition said it was a very good event and is glad to have had a chance to see the beauty of Japan.

Ishige said he wants the expo in Osaka and Kansai to be seen as a business opportunity. He said he would like not just Japanese businesses, but foreign companies as well, to help make this possible.
