The wife of freed journalist Jumpei Yasuda has read out a statement penned by him upon his return to Japan. He was released from more than 3 years of captivity in Syria by rebel forces.
Yasuda's wife Myu held a news conference at Narita Airport near Tokyo on Thursday evening after he arrived there.
In the statement, Yasuda expressed regret for causing tremendous trouble and worrying many people.
He thanked people for their help and support in making his return possible.
