Giants sign Cuba WBC vet AndersonThe Central League's Yomiuri Giants on Saturday announced the signing of left-handed-hitting Leslie Anderson.
The 31-year-old played for Cuba in the first two editions of the World Baseball Classic in 2006 and 2009. His one-year deal is believed to be worth 60 million yen.

"I've long dreamed of playing in Japan, where so many players from around the world come," he said in a statement released by the Giants.

Anderson has no major league experience. This year, he batted .292 with 14 home runs and 74 RBIs for Triple-A Durham, where he has primarily played first base and left field.
