Miladi Karate Academy Hosts Tournament



Miladi Karate Academy hosts tournamentYuba City's Miladi Karate Academy hosted its eighth annual Shotokan Karate USA Fall Classic tournament on Oct. 5 at River Valley High School.
The tournament hosted more than 200 competitors from all over the state.




Martial artists from the Miladi Karate Academy combined to bring home 65 medals at the tournament, including 14 gold, 21 silver and 30 bronze.
Categories included kata, kumite, team kata and overall team competition.
Placing first in kata were Kaleb Larricq and Josh Camacho. First-place winners in kumite included Natalie Quintana, Johnny Acevedo, Katrina Lim, Guggan Atwal, Arjun Atwal and Josh Camacho.

Kaleb Larricq, David Perea, Saibien Hamilton, Guggan Atwal, Arjun Atwal and Arun Atwal won gold in team kata.
Silver medalists in individual kata were Carson Quintana, Imani Thiara, Katherine Lim, Maurice Witherspoon, Jordan Bullard, Colin Damon, Riley Geniella and Arjun Atwal. Taking second place in kumite were David Perea, Kaleb Larricq, Jordan Bullard, Colin Damon, Ryan Wells, Arun Atwal and Ella Ratajczak.
Taking home silver in team kata were Andrew Libby, Abhishek Sahota, Ivan Martinez, Sumit Saroya, Richie Geniella and Riley Geniella.
A bevy of local competitors took third in kata, including Ruben Juarez, David Perea, Natalie Quintana, Jesse Quintana, Johnny Acevedo, Tristan Hale, Lauren Robles, Krysta Sadlowski, JaydenCarrillo, Alvin Chibaya, Danica Giongco, Edgar Hernandez, Kayla Lim, Ryan Wells, Arun Atwal, Ella Ratajczak and Tony Chagolla.

Placing third in kumite were Ruben Juarez, Jesse Quintana, Shane Murray, Brennan Bullard, Kayla Lim, Richie Geniella, Riley Geniella, Max Bryan, RJ Henderson, Luke Ratajczak and Tony Chagolla.
