Japanese tennis star Kei Nishikori says he hopes to play doubles as well as singles matches at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
NHK interviewed Nishikori on Sunday ahead of the Italian Open.
Nishikori has played more tournament doubles matches this season than in the past, teaming up with top-notch foreign players.
He says the main reason he is playing doubles is to improve his skills with a view to taking part in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
He says he wants to pair up whenever he has energy to spare because doing so helps him get used to the doubles category.
The 29-year-old has competed in the men's singles in three consecutive Olympics, since the 2008 Games in Beijing.
In 2016, he won the bronze medal at the Rio de Janeiro Games. It was Japan's first Olympics medal in the sport in 96 years.
