Japanese soccer star Keisuke Honda has signed a contract with Melbourne Victory.
The Australian club tweeted on Monday that "the wait is over" and posted a video of Honda.
Shortly after the announcement, Honda tweeted, "I signed! Look forward to seeing you in Australia!"
Honda made his professional debut in Japan in 2005. He later played in the Netherlands and Russia, and moved to AC Milan in 2014. He stayed with the Italian powerhouse for 3-and-a-half years, and wore the number 10 shirt. Honda spent the past season with Mexican club Pachuca.
Honda has played for Japan in 3 World Cups, scoring goals in each of them. He's the only Japanese player to accomplish that feat.
Two other Japanese soccer stars, Kazuyoshi Miura and Shinji Ono, have also played for Australian teams.
