AKB48 Takahashi Juri's birthday event to be postponed after traffic accident

It's been reported that AKB48 member Takahashi Juri was involved in a traffic accident on February 3. As a result, her birthday event, which was scheduled to be held on February 6 at AKB48 Theater, will be postponed. 

On her way home on February 3, Takahashi was riding a vehicle that struck by another vehicle that was making a right turn in the opposing lane. Doctors did not find any broken bones, but she was instructed to wait and see for about a week. As such, her birthday event will be postponed to sometime in or after March.

AKB48 Team K's Nozawa Rena has announced that she will graduate from the group next May. 

Nozawa started her activities in JKT48 as a first generation student in 2011. She then held a concurrent position in AKB48 starting in 2014.

AKB48 Group's live event 'AKB48 Group Request Hour Set List Best 100 2019' will be held on January 18 and 19 at TOKYO DOME CITY HALL. 

'Request Hour' is an annual event where the fans vote for their favorite songs and the members perform them in the order they rank. The polling period will take place from November 27 at 10:00 am to December 11 at 3:00 pm.

AKB48 Team A Kenkyuusei Shoji Nagisa has graduated from the group as it has become difficult for her to manage her activities and schoolwork. 

Shoji passed AKB48's 16th generation audition in 2016. On the group's official website, she commented, "The two years of activities was my treasure. I am full of gratitude to everyone who supported me, the members, and the staff. Thank you very much. From now on, I will do my best while treasuring the many memories I received from everyone."

AKB48 have revealed the PV for their new single "NO WAY MAN" to be released on November 28. 

"NO WAY MAN" is the last single for members Miyawaki Sakura, Yabuki Nako, and Honda Hitomi, who will be devoting their activities to the Japanese-Korean girls group IZ*ONE until 2021. In the PV, the members challenged themselves to an intricate dance, which was choreographed by Ruu.

On September 29, AKB48's Fujita Nana announced her graduation during Team K's group performance 'RESET' at AKB48 Theater. 

After the show, she wrote on her blog, "I announced my graduation from AKB during today's performance. I'm sorry if I surprised you." She continued, "I joined AKB48 as a 10th generation member when I was 13. I am now in my 9th year. I've thought about graduating a few times, but I wasn't able to do it because I wanted to graduate after I made my mark in AKB48."

A new AKB48 overseas sister group SGO48 will form in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. 

Following JKT48 in Jakarta, Indonesia, BNK48 in Bangkok, Thailand, TPE48 in Taipei, Taiwan, MNL48 in Manila, Philippines, AKB48 TeamSH in Shanghai, China, and MUM48 in Mumbai, India, SGO48 is the seventh overseas sister group. The group name is derived from "Saigon," which is the former name of Ho Chi Minh.

AKB48 have revealed the PV for their new single "Teacher Teacher" due out on May 30. 

Oguri Yui serves as center for the first time in this single. In the PV, the 28 members have a "sexy and cute dance battle" while showing their beautiful legs. It was directed by Uehara Kei and the choreography was done by Park Juny. 

Jkt48 Will Not Participate In Akb48 World General Election

JKT48 have announced that they will not participate in the upcoming 'AKB48 World General Election' to be held on June 16. 

This year's 'AKB48 General Election' allows overseas sister groups to enter to be in the running for senbatsu for the group's 53rd single. Based in Jakarta, Indonesia, the members of JKT48 had originally planned on running for candidacy. However, the event day will be within the Lebaran Day of Ramadan (June 13 - 19) and will not be fair to all members. As such, it was decided that the entire group will not participate in this year's event.

The idol made the announcement on March 15 on 'SHOWROOM.' Afterwards, she tweeted, "I announced my graduation earlier on SHOWROOM. At the moment, I can say that the handshake event on August 12 will be my last. I will let you know regarding my graduation concert as soon as it is determined.

The PV for AKB48's new song "Jabaja" has been uploaded onto YouTube. 

The group's 51st single (March 14 release) is a medium-tempo dance number with Okada Nana as center. In the PV, the members prepare for a school festival to portray the franticness represented in the song. The "jajaba dance" featured in the chorus was choreographed by CRE8BOY. It was directed by YKBX, who was in charge of the videos for Amuro Namie's "Showtime" and "Hero."

New AKB48 sister group to form in India

A new AKB48 sister group called MUM48 will form in Mumbai, India. 

This was announced by AKB48 general manager Yokoyama Yui on December 27 during a special program on SHOWROOM. MUM48 will be AKB's fifth overseas sister group following JKT48 (Indonesia), BNK48 (Thailand), TPE48 (Taiwan), and MNL48 (Philippines). The logo color for MUM48 will be green representing India's wealth of nature, growth, and energy.
