It goes without saying that Google is probably the most used search engine on the internet. It is, of course, not the only option out there even though the competition doesn’t quite command the same market share. However, it seems that it won’t stop companies like Microsoft from trying.

According to a post on Reddit, it was discovered that Microsoft had sneakily inserted the option to search using Bing into Outlook on Android. Users discovered this when they highlight a sentence or a word and long press on it, and they found that searching using Bing was one of the options presented to them.

While wired controllers on home consoles is acceptable, it is a bit strange when it comes to mobile because it means that it makes it less portable and a bit more clunky when setting it up. Oddly enough, wireless support for Google’s Stadia controller for Android devices was not available at launch, but that has changed.

If you do play Stadia games frequently on your Android phone, you’ll be pleased to learn that Google has announced that they will now be able to use their Stadia controller wirelessly on their Android device. This will come in the form of an update to the Stadia app that will be released on the 30th of June, so do keep an eye out for that.

On your computer if you deleted a file, it would end up in your computer’s trash can. This is done to help you potentially retrieve files you might not have intended to delete, but accidentally done so. However, on your phone, there isn’t anything quite like that, and while you can retrieve deleted files, it’s not so straightforward.

However, the good news is that in the upcoming Android 11 update, it seems that Google has introduced a hidden trash can feature in the operating system. What this means is that in the event that files are deleted, they can be retrieved as long as it is not more than 30 days since they were deleted.

Back in the early days of the smartphone, we would see phones launch with 16GB of storage which is paltry by today’s standards. This is because display resolutions were low, meaning that apps would not require hi-def assets. Our cameras were also pretty low quality back then too, which meant that photos and videos wouldn’t necessarily take up too much space.

However, these days our phones are becoming more capable than ever, and our cameras also come with the ability to shoot video in 4K. The good news for Android users is that as discovered in the recently released Android 11 beta, it seems that Google has lifted the 4GB cap when it comes to recording videos on your Android phone.

Back in November last year, Adobe announced that they were developing a new app called Photoshop Camera. For those who might have missed the announcement, basically this is a camera app that comes with a variety of lenses and filters that allows users to take all kinds of funky and interesting photos.

The app, following the announcement, was made available as a public preview. However, for those who missed out on the preview, the good news is that Adobe has since released the app in full where users on both iOS and Android will be able to download it. The best part is that it is also free.

Razer is a company known for creating gaming peripherals and accessories. If you’re an Android gamer, then you might be interested to learn that the company has since announced its latest gaming controller for Android devices in the form of the Razer Kishi. This is an add-on accessory that gives Android gamers access to physical controllers.

Mobile games can be incredibly fun, but onscreen controls are generally frustrating to use and sometimes don’t feel quite as responsive compared to physical controllers. This is where controllers like the Kishi comes in. The device was originally unveiled at CES 2020 in January earlier this year, and now it looks like it will be available for purchase.

This year, Google is expected to release a new major Android update. Given that last year saw Android 10 released, this means that this year will be Android 11. For those who are curious as to what the update could be bringing to the table, you will be pleased to learn that Google has since announced that the Android 11 beta is now available for download.

This means that if you want to take the update for a spin to see what kind of changes and improvements Google has made, you’ll be able to do so. However, for now it should be noted that the beta is only available for Google Pixel 2 devices or newer, so if you own the original Pixel, you won’t be able to get in on the beta action.

The 2020 Honda CR-V is an all-star; a thoughtfully designed and well-rounded compact crossover that checks off virtually every box families might have. Consumer reviews and reliability ratings have shown in abundance that it is a laggy, glitchy system. As just one example, a friend of my mother's even recently said she loved her CR-V but was reluctant to buy another because of the problems she's had with the touchscreen. During my recent week with a CR-V Hybrid (more reviews coming soon), it became completely unresponsive when using Apple CarPlay. When it was functioning as designed, it was still slow to move between menus, and it just isn't as intuitive as rival systems. It's also pretty antiquated in appearance and measures only 7 inches, versus the more common 8 inches of the Toyota RAV4 and others.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has introduced their new Uconnect 5 infotainment system which is based on Android.

If you're a regular reader of Autoblog, you know that for a long time we've liked Fiat Chrysler's Uconnect infotainment system for its bright, clear, responsive touchscreen interface. Now, according to the company, it will be better than ever with Uconnect 5, the latest iteration of the system. It has upgraded hardware and a revamped graphic user interface (the stuff on the screen). Looking at sample screens shown above, there are characteristics shared with the old system, such as the time, status and shortcuts at the top and the menu icons at the bottom. In the middle, the major change is the addition of home screens that can be customized with favorite menus and readouts that are always available. Each of these home screens can have up to four functions and you can have five pages to flip through. The graphics themselves feature more legible fonts and updated icons. Each car brand will get its own set of icons, colors and textures to help create unique experiences. And while each Fiat Chrysler product will be able to have Uconnect, including Alfa Romeo that has until now lacked Uconnect, each brand has the ability to make small tweaks including the screen orientation. The system will support displays in landscape, portrait or square, so different brands may choose different shapes. Powering Uconnect 5 is a processor Fiat Chrysler says is six times more powerful than what's in current systems. It features 6 gigabytes of RAM and 64 gigabytes of internal storage. The processor also supports screens as large as 12.3 inches with as many as 15 million pixels, or nearly twice that of a 4K resolution TV. The system can display information on up to four screens, too. Uconnect 5's firmware is built on Google's Android operating system, joining a few other automakers in using Android as a base for their infotainment systems. Uconnect 5 brings with it a number of new features. It brings full Alexa integration, so you can use it just like you do at home, provided you have a data plan for the car. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto continue to be standard, but now they can be used wirelessly. You can also now connect two phones via Bluetooth wirelessly so you can access content from both. Navigation gets real time information and updates from TomTom. Users can create five profiles with unique climate, radio and instrument settings, plus one for a valet. Also, the voice control system has been updated and will respond similarly to how you speak to Alexa, Siri and other voice assistants. Uconnect 5 will be available later this year. Fiat Chrysler hasn't officially said which cars will get the system first, but expect it to become equipment on virtually every product from the company.
