Japan's fire authority will require gas stations in the country to identify purchasers of gasoline in containers from next year. The move is in response to the deadly arson attack on Kyoto Animation studio in July.

The suspect in the case allegedly bought 40 liters of gasoline in containers at a gas station before launching his attack.

There were reports that Nintendo could face a class action lawsuit over this so perhaps that’s why the company has decided to be proactive about this and fix the issue even for customers who may not be covered by warranty.

Some of you guys might have heard how in southwestern Japan, that area of the country has been hit with devastating floods where more than 8 million people were advised to evacuate, and where it has been reported tha 225 people have died as a result of the flood and an additional 13 reported missing.

No doubt a lot of people are affected by the floods with their homes and belongings having been destroyed. Thankfully it seems that Apple is looking to lend a hand to those affected by the floods and have announced that they will be offering free repairs to customers whose Apple devices might have been damaged during the course of the flood.

No matter how concept-like it might look, Honda is adamant in making the Urban EV a production car. At the Geneva Motor Show, Honda announced that orders for the Urban EV will be taken from early next year. Prices have not yet been confirmed.

Honda Motor Europe's Philip Ross told the crowd at a press conference: "A production version of this highly acclaimed concept will be introduced to Europe during late 2019, and in response to the positive feedback to this model, we expect to open order banks for the Urban EV during early 2019." U.S.-market sales plans remain unannounced, but we'd imagine there are plenty of Honda drivers that would welcome the Urban EV — especially the kind of early adopters who took to the original, dainty Insight hybrid.

SoftBank humanoid robot Pepper serves coffee to customers' preference at Ginza - FareastgizmosCoffee lovers can enjoy free coffee served by Softbank's humanoid robot Pepper at three of its stores in Tokyo. The humanoid remembers customers’ faces and their preference of coffee for during their next visits to the stores. SoftBank has begun a trial service that will run through Aug 2 and is considering the full-scale robo café service, aimed at entertaining smartphone buyers while waiting. During a press event held at the SoftBank Ginza store last week, Pepper asked a customer, would you like a cup of coffee while waiting?

The simulated customer selected the amount and thickness of coffee using the touch screen of Pepper. While the coffee is brewed, the customers can also register him as friends with the humanoid. The robot can recognize different human faces with a system developed by Microsoft. The system is capable of detecting 27 spots on a human face.
