Nintendo Announces New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe For The Switch

Last month it was rumored that Nintendo could be bringing New Super Mario Bros. U to the Nintendo Switch. Given that Nintendo brought Mario Kart 8 onto the Switch where it was previously launched as a Wii U exclusive, this idea didn’t seem too ridiculous. Turns out the rumors were right because that’s exactly what Nintendo has done.

The company has announced that New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe will be coming to the Switch early 2019. This will contain both New Super Mario Bros. U and also New Super Luigi U games, in which gamers will basically be getting two games at once. Not only will Mario, Luigi, and Toad be returning as playable characters, but the Deluxe version of the game will also see the addition of Nabbit and Toadette.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Breath of the Wild Update Released

It's easy to see why The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the best games around. It builds on the Zelda franchise and also introduces an open world concept to the game, something that it seemed to lack previously. It also introduced new graphics and new gameplay features, such as the ability to ride a bike.

For those who have yet to unlock the Master Cycle in the game, not to worry because you'll now get a chance to ride it in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Yup, you read that right, it seems that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe players can now look forward to riding the Master Cycle in the game as it has recently been released as a new and free update.

The Nintendo Labo kits were officially unveiled earlier this year and it seemed a bit like a niche product. However if you were thinking whether or not the Labo will be worth your investment, you might be interested to learn that Nintendo has recently updated Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to make it compatible with the Labo.

What does this mean? In the video above, basically you will be able to create accessories that you can use to enhance your Mario Kart experience. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Has Already Outsold Zelda On Amazon

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Has Already Outsold Zelda On Amazon

When the Nintendo Switch was launched, there weren't that many games available for it. However one of the bigger titles available at launch was The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Given Zelda's popularity and also the fact that gamers have been waiting for this title ever since it was announced for the Wii U, its success wasn't surprising.

We had heard that over at GameStop, the attachment rate for the game was pretty much one-to-one, meaning that for every Switch sold, a copy of the game was purchased as well. However it looks like maybe Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was a more highly-anticipated title because over on Amazon, the game has already managed to outsell Breath of the Wild.

Super Mario Run To Get A Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Event This Friday

To celebrate the launch of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch, which is taking place on the 28th of April which is this Friday, it seems that Nintendo wants to tie in that celebration with its other games, like Super Mario Run. As you can see in the screenshot to the right, Nintendo will be introducing what they're calling a "mega event" to the game.

Basically to celebrate the release of the game, players will be able to get their hands on certain deluxe buildings and decorations for their Mario kingdom in Super Mario Run. However it also seems that this is contingent on how many players around the world are playing Toad Rally, which we guess is also Nintendo's way of trying to entice players back into the game.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Removes Fire-hopping Trick

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Removes Fire-Hopping Trick

Just like how the bunny hop was a controversial move in Counter-Strike back in the day, Mario Kart 8 had a fire-hopping trick where gamers could gain small boosts by hopping left and right while coming out of a boost. It wasn't really an illegal move but pulling it off wasn't easy and not all players might be aware of it.

This means that in some instances, more pro players would have an advantage over other players who were playing "normally". If you've hated the move and felt it was unfair, you might be pleased to learn that in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Nintendo seems to have removed the feature which means that now everyone will be "equal", or at least to a certain extent.

For those wondering how the games compare against each other, the folks at Direct-Feed Games on YouTube have uploaded a comparison in the graphics which you can check out for yourself in the video above. From what we can tell, the lighting on the Switch version seems to be better and more dynamic, whereas the Wii U version appears to be slightly flat/muted.
