While the phone has been out for a while now, famed camera review website DxOMark has published their verdict on Sony's latest flagship. Would DxOMark be taken with Sony's camera prowess, or would it instead be underwhelmed?

Imaging specialists DxOMark have finally put the Sony Xperia XZ3 camera through its paces, giving the phone a score of 79 overall. For context, this is below that achieved by the Xperia XZ Premium (83), and above that of the Xperia XA2 Ultra (75). It is the same score achieved by the budget Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018).

Image specialists DxoMark has put the Xperia XA2 Ultra's camera through its paces. The last Xperia smartphone to be rated by DxoMark was the Xperia XZ Premium, which scored 83. It's no surprise to Sony's latest mid-ranger not score as highly – DxoMark gave it an overall score of 75 – with DxoMark stating that it "produces acceptable images without excelling, generally capturing good exposures and attractive colors, but has some inconsistencies."

DxOMark just completed their review of the Nikon D850 and, not entirely surprising, it is officially the best camera DxOMark has ever tested. In fact, it's the first camera ever to reach a score of 100, pushing the Sony a7R II into second place with its score of 98.

As it stands now, the camera rankings put the Nikon D850 and its predecessor, the D810, in the number 1 and 3 spots.
