Canon EOS 7D Lineup Might Have Been Discontinued

The Canon EOS 7D MK II was launched back in 2014 and while we have heard rumors that the company could be launching a successor in 2018, we haven’t really seen anything yet. Unfortunately, for those who were hoping to get their hands on the MK III, you might be disappointed to learn that the camera may never come.

This is according to a report from Canon Rumors who claims that the EOS 7D series might be cancelled and discontinued for good. This is because apparently, Canon has decided to focus their efforts on their EOS R mirrorless cameras. The report also claims that several dealers and distributors have expressed their concern about this, as apparently EOS 7D camera owners buy more lenses compared to EOS 80D owners.

While mirrorless cameras are all the rage these days, we understand that there might be some photographers who still prefer the heft, size, and features of a DSLR. If you’re looking for a new DSLR and want something less expensive than a professional-grade camera but want something better than an entry-level device, then Canon might have something for you.

According to a report from Canon Rumors, they have managed to get their hands on the alleged specs of the upcoming Canon EOS 90D. This is the successor to the EOS 80D which was launched back in 2016, which means that now is as good a time as any for Canon to introduce a new camera to its mid-range lineup.

The camera will feature the use of a 24.1MP CMOS sensor and will be powered by the DIGIC 8 image processing engine. It also sports a 3-inch LCD touchscreen display, and it will also support 4K video recording which means that videographers who need a camera for 4K footage, this could be one way to go about doing that.

According to Kazuto Ogawa, president and chief operating officer of Canon USA, “Since its inception, the EOS Rebel product line has aimed to provide imaging excellence for entry-level visual storytellers. Therefore, it was imperative that the next step in the EOS Rebel journey include innovative features such as 4K video and DIGIC 8 Image Processor to meet the needs of emerging photographers, while living up to the high-image quality and compact size EOS Rebel DSLRs are known for.”

We Might Not See Any New Canon Eos R Cameras This Year

We Might Not See Any New Canon EOS R Cameras This Year

Earlier this year Canon launched the EOS RP, the more affordable version of its EOS R mirrorless lineup. Unfortunately if you were hoping to see more EOS R cameras this year, there’s a good chance that we might not see anything new this year. This is according to a report from Canon Rumors whose sources told them that there will be no new EOS R bodies being shipped out this year.

However this doesn’t mean that there won’t be any new announcements. According to the publication, they claim that there could be an off chance that Canon might announce a new camera later in the year, and that it might simply ship in early 2020 instead, but that’s just speculation so take it with a grain of salt for now.

Canon Confirms Future Eos R Cameras Will Have Ibis

Canon Confirms Future EOS R Cameras Will Have IBIS

Having a steady hand while taking photos can mean the difference between a photo that is perfectly sharp and one that is blurred. Since it can be difficult to remain perfectly still all the time, that’s where image stabilization tech comes into play. The good news is that if you are planning on buying a Canon EOS R camera, Canon has confirmed that in-body image stabilization (IBIS) will be a feature on future cameras.

This is according to an interview that Amateur Photographer did at CP+ where the publication managed to speak to several Canon executives. When the topic of IBIS was brought up, Canon’s execs confirmed that this would be a feature that photographers will be able to expect in future cameras.

Canon Eos Rp Full-frame Camera Officially Announced

Canon EOS RP Full-Frame Camera Officially Announced

According to recent rumors, Canon has a new EOS R full-frame mirrorless camera in the works that could be a budget model. It turns out the rumors were right on the money because Canon has since officially announced the EOS RP, the company’s next attempt at a full-frame mirrorless camera that won’t break the bank.

For those unfamiliar, Canon announced their first full-frame mirrorless camera back in 2018. However there was always something “missing” from the announcement, and it turns out that the EOS R represented a mid-range full-frame camera, and now the EOS RP is the budget version, which means that there could be one more high-end camera in the works.

Canon's Next Eos R Announcement Will Be For A Budget Model

Canon's Next EOS R Announcement Will Be For A Budget Model

A recent rumor claims that Canon has a major announcement that could take place this month. Now according to a report from Canon Watch, it seems that the upcoming camera announcement from Canon could be for a budget EOS R model that could be priced around the $1,600 mark.

Now we know that $1,600 isn’t exactly cheap, but it will be cheaper than the current EOS R offering and it is pretty affordable as far as full-frame mirrorless cameras are concerned. This is actually a bit of a surprise as most of the rumors we have been hearing so far have been talking about a high-end EOS R camera with a 100MP sensor.

Canon Might Have A Pro-grade 100mp Eos R Camera In The Works

Canon Might Have A Pro-Grade 100MP EOS R Camera In The Works

Last year Canon announced their new mirrorless camera efforts with the EOS R. However compared to Nikon’s announcement, Canon’s announcement was a little less exciting. It turns out that this could be because the current EOS R that was launched was designed to be a mid-range model, and that the company has a pro-grade model in the works.

A new report from Canon Rumors and Northlight has revealed that Canon definitely has something high-end in the works, which apparently could be an EOS camera that sports a crazy 100MP sensor along with IBIS (in-body image stabilization). Apparently the use of the 100MP sensor had previously been planned for a successor of the EOS 5DS/R, which apparently was scrapped in favor of the high-end EOS R.

Canon Has An 8K Capable EOS R Camera In Their Roadmap

4K video recording is something that we’re starting to see included in many smartphones and cameras, but for videographers who’d like to futureproof themselves or stay ahead of the curve, then Canon might be a brand to watch out for because the company already has plans for an 8K capable EOS R camera in their roadmap.

This is according to an interview that Imaging Resource (via Photo Rumors) did with Canon exec Yoshiyuki Mizoguchi where they discussed the future of the EOS R lineup. One part of the interview touched on the topic of video recording where it was asked how does video fit into the EOS R lineup.

5-Aixs IBIS Could Be Coming To Canon's Next EOS-R Camera

Image stabilization is useful in situations where you need to move around a lot but want to ensure that your photos and videos don’t come off too blurry. Now Canon’s EOS R camera is packed with high-end features, but if there was one thing missing from the camera was image stabilization.

If you are interested in the EOS R, maybe you might want to hold off until the next-gen model because according to a report from Canon Rumors, it seems that Canon’s next EOS R could come with a 5-axis IBIS (in-body image stabilization). Now there are IBIS and lens-based image stabilization, where the former will allow for stability across all lenses, whereas the other is localized to the lens that is attached to the camera.

Higher-Resolution Canon EOS R Could Be Launched At Photokina 2019

A couple of months ago, Canon announced their new lineup of EOS R mirrorless cameras. This seems to be a considerably more “serious” effort from the company, where in the past the company’s previous mirrorless launches weren’t exactly met with favorable reviews. However if you were hoping to see more variants, Photokina 2019 could be an event to watch out for.

According to a report from CanonWatch (via Mirrorless Rumors), it seems that Canon might have a higher-resolution version of the EOS R that they could announce at Photokina 2019 which is scheduled to take place in May 2019. Details and specs of the alleged camera are sparse at the moment so it’s really anyone’s guess as to what Canon could announce.

Just last month Canon announced the EOS R. This represents Canon’s more “serious” approach to mirrorless cameras as it seemed like it was designed to compete with Sony’s full-frame offerings. The company has attempted mirrorless cameras in the past but they never really took off.

We have been hearing rumors that Canon could be getting ready to launch a new mirrorless camera and for those who are fans of Canon’s cameras, you will be pleased to learn that the company has officially announced its latest mirrorless efforts in the form of the brand new Canon EOS R.

As expected based on the rumors, the EOS R is a full-frame mirrorless camera. Given that Sony has full-frame mirrorless cameras and with Nikon recently announcing the Z6 and Z7 full-frame mirrorless cameras, it isn’t surprising to see Canon follow suit. Just like with the Nikon Z-series, the Canon EOS R will feature a new RF mount which shares the same diameter as Canon’s current EF mount, but will have a shorter flange focal distance.
