Japan sees record hot days in mid-July

Record average temperatures were observed in wide areas of Japan in mid-July.

The Meteorological Agency says the hotter than average days began in late June in eastern Japan, and on around the 9th of July in the west of the country.

Medical experts and police say 21 people have died of heatstroke during the 3 days ending on Sunday. The victims are aged between their 40s and their 90s.

KARIYA, Aichi Prefecture--Rescued from demolition, a wooden factory building where Toyota Motor Corp. founder Kiichiro Toyoda built his first passenger car prototype in 1935, will open to the public on July 18.

It will be part of the Prototype Plant at the Establishment of Toyota, an annex of the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology.
