Nintendo Originally Had Plans For A Portable Version Of The GameCube

Nintendo makes both home and portable consoles like the Wii and DS, but it was with the Nintendo Switch did the company finally combine both portable and home consoles into one, where gamers could choose to play their Switch on the go, or play it docked to their TV in the comfort of their own home.

However, it seems that the Switch was not Nintendo’s first idea. According to leaked documents shared on Reddit, it appears that at one point in time, Nintendo actually toyed around with the idea of creating a portable version of the GameCube where the idea was similar to that of the Nintendo Switch.

New Upgraded Nintendo Switch Expected To Arrive In Q1 2021

New Upgraded Nintendo Switch Expected To Arrive In Q1 2021

The Nintendo Switch has not seen any changes to its hardware ever since it was launched a few years ago. Nintendo did introduce a new model with the Switch Lite, but otherwise there haven’t been any other upgrades. However, if the latest rumors are to be believed, we could be getting a new model next year.

This is according to a report from Bloomberg who claims that Nintendo is expected to introduce an upgraded version of the Switch in the first quarter of 2021. While the report does not state what kind of upgrades we can expect, they do claim that Nintendo was looking into introducing more computing power along with 4K graphics.

The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword Leaked For Nintendo Switch

As far as Zelda games on the Nintendo Switch are concerned, there are several titles that we know of. There is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the Breath of the Wild sequel, and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. However, it seems that we might soon be able to add one more title to that list.

According to an Amazon UK listing, it appears that Nintendo could also be planning on launching The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on the Switch as well. For those who are unfamiliar, Skyward Sword is not a new Zelda game, but rather it was originally designed for the Wii and Wii U consoles.

Pokemon Unite Is An Upcoming MOBA Game For The Nintendo Switch And Mobile

The Pokemon franchise has evolved greatly over the years where it has been released in multiple formats. For example there is the classic Game Boy version of the game, then there is the collectible card version, and then there is also the mobile version in the form of Pokemon GO.

Now it looks like we have a new Pokemon game in a new format to look forward to in the form of Pokemon Unite. With this new game, the Pokemon franchise will now be playable as a MOBA game where players will be able to battle other players in 5-vs-5 games where they’ll be able to choose from various Pokemon as their “heroes”.

Nintendo Could Be Looking To Scale Back On Their Mobile Development Efforts

Nintendo Could Be Looking To Scale Back On Their Mobile Development Efforts

According to the report, it alleges that Nintendo is apparently looking to scale back on their mobile development efforts. While the company isn’t quitting mobile completely, it seems that the company’s success with Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch has reaffirmed what they had previously thought, which was that console gaming is where it’s at.

This alleged decision shouldn’t come as a surprise. Back in May, Nintendo’s president Shuntaro Furukawa had already hinted of the company’s mobile plans, where he was quoted as saying, “We are not necessarily looking to continue releasing many new applications for the mobile market.”

The Nintendo Wii Is Still A Smashing Success In Care Homes More Than A Decade Later

The Nintendo Wii Is Still A Smashing Success In Care Homes More Than A Decade Later

The Nintendo Wii was released more than a decade ago, about 13 years to be exact. It is one of Nintendo’s most successful consoles to date (although the Switch seems to be catching up), and it seems that over in the Windsor Court care home located in Wetherby in the UK, the Wii is still finding a lot of use amongst its residents.

According to a report from the Harrogate Informer, they revealed how a Wii was donated to the care home thanks to the efforts of a domestic assistant at the home, Leown Botten. Botten then helped set the console up and even taught them how to play, and it appears to be quite a smashing success as the residents are now having a truckload of fun playing it.

Nintendo Launches Free Jump Rope Challenge Game For The Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Launches Free Jump Rope Challenge Game For The Nintendo Switch

The lockdown has caused not only financial strain on the world, but also on the mental and physical well-being of people who might otherwise be going out socializing, exercising, and so on. If you’re going a little stir crazy at home right now, the good news is that if you own the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo has recently released a free game for you all.

The company has announced a free title called the Jump Rope Challenge. This is pretty much as its name suggests, where players will be able to jump rope using their Joy-Cons to emulate the experience of jumping rope. According to Nintendo, this game was developed by developers who were working from home in Japan to help incorporate some physical movement in their life while making it a fun and social game.

'burnout Paradise Remastered' Launches On Nintendo Switch This Year

'Burnout Paradise Remastered' launches on Nintendo Switch this year

One of the best racing games of the previous generation of game consoles (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC), "Burnout Paradise" got a visual remaster and re-release a couple of years ago for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. This year, it gets added to one more system, the Nintendo Switch, so you can enjoy the fast paced vehicular destruction anywhere.

Besides offering high-speed fun on the go, "Burnout Paradise Remastered" coming to the Switch is significant because this is the first time it will have been available for a Nintendo console. With the original release, Nintendo's only home console, the Wii, didn't have the digital horsepower to handle the high-definition graphics of the then-new Burnout game. So publisher EA and developer Criterion Games didn't create a version for the system. The remaster skipped the Nintendo Wii U, too, which considering the system's sales, wasn't a terrible idea. So this marks the first time for Nintendo loyalists to play the game.

Nintendo Reportedly Wanted Kingdom Hearts' Sora In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. franchise contains video game characters from a variety of games and publishers. Now, we imagine that Nintendo probably has a ton of ideas as to what kind of characters they want in the game, and that they might not necessarily be successful with all their requests.

One of those unsuccessful requests is apparently Sora from Kingdom Hearts. This is according to a recent episode on the Kinda Funny Gamescast where former Game Informer editor, Imran Khan, claimed that Nintendo had approached Disney and asked if they could have Sora in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Ever wanted to play a PlayStation game from your Nintendo Switch? If you do, then you might be interested to learn that there is a small, small possibility that Sony’s PlayStation Remote Play could be arriving on the Switch. This was hinted at in a survey shared by Redditor YouRedditHereFirst.

According to the post, they received an email survey from Sony regarding the Remote Play feature. It asked participants about their thoughts of the feature arriving on non-Sony devices like the Xbox One or the Nintendo Switch, and it also asked them their thoughts on the feature for non-gaming devices like the Apple TV or Android TV.

Nope, No New Nintendo Switch Models Are Being Planned For 2020

Nope, No New Nintendo Switch Models Are Being Planned For 2020

As it turns out, those rumors are wrong yet again. This is according to Nintendo’s CEO and President Shuntaro Furukawa who said that the company has no plans to launch a new Switch model in 2020. While Furukawa acknowledges that the Switch is in the halfway through its hardware lifecycle, he believes that they can still get more out of the current model instead of releasing a new one.

According to Furukawa, “According to the conventional wisdom for dedicated video game platforms, Nintendo Switch should be entering the midway phase of the hardware lifecycle. But we believe we have built a foundation on which we can pursue further growth opportunities for Nintendo Switch.”

Nintendo Has Made $1 Billion In Revenue From Mobile To Date

Nintendo Has Made $1 Billion In Revenue From Mobile To Date

For the longest time ever, Nintendo resisted making the jump to mobile. The company had their own reasons, but it seemed to fly in defiance of the market and how more developers were starting to treat mobile as a serious gaming platform. The company has since made the shift and it looks like it has paid off.

According to the latest figures from Sensor Tower (which are no official, by the way), it seems that Nintendo’s decision to start developing mobile games has paid off in a huge way. The report claims that to date, the company has made a whopping $1 billion from games on both iOS and Android devices.

Bioshock Collection Could Be Headed For The Nintendo Switch

BioShock Collection Could Be Headed For The Nintendo Switch

While we’re not sure when we might see another BioShock game released in the near future, the good news is that if you’re looking to replay the original BioShock trilogy, you could be in luck especially if you’re a Nintendo Switch owner. This is because according to a leak, it seems that the BioShock Collection could be headed to the console.

According to a post on the Taiwan rating board’s website, it has revealed the potential existence of the collection for the Switch. It should be noted that the remastered collection was previously released for the PS4 and Xbox One a few years ago, so for it to make its way onto the Switch doesn’t come as a surprise, especially given how popular the console is.
