Minister: Water release into sea is 'only option'

Japanese Environment Minister Yoshiaki Harada has said he thinks the only way to stop the buildup of wastewater that is contaminated with radioactive tritium at the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant is to release it into the sea.

About 170 tons of wastewater containing mostly tritium is building up at the nuclear plant each day. Wastewater from the damaged reactor buildings is cleared of most other radioactive substances.

2019 Nissan Altima Will Have Propilot Assist Option

2019 Nissan Altima will have ProPilot Assist option

The 2019 Nissan Altima midsize family sedan will be revealed soon at the New York Auto Show. We've seen it in spy shots, and we've seen an early sketch, and now we know one of the features that will be available. The new Altima will have ProPilot Assist as an option.

In case you haven't heard of ProPilot Assist or just forgot about it, the feature is a semi-autonomous driving system that provides steering, acceleration and braking assistance on highways. It can bring the car to a complete stop and resume accelerating up to speed, it recognizes other cars and adjusts speed, and it keeps the car in its lane. It does require the driver to continue paying attention and to keep hands on the steering wheel. Also, while it can handle some corners on highways, there are limits to how tight a corner it can manage.

A lifted truck is a better truck. Let's just go with that logic for a moment and therefore rejoice at the news that you can now get the Nissan Titan and Nissan Titan XD with a factory-authorized suspension lift kit. Developed by ICON Vehicle Dynamics and available on Crew Cab 4x4 models, it can lift the truck up to 3 inches by way of adjustable height coilover shocks, custom rod end bearings and special Delta Joints. Given the standard ground clearance of various Crew Cab Titan trim levels, you'd be looking at clearance of between 11 and 13.6 inches with the lift kit. Nissan points out that no cutting or drilling is required.

The major Japanese automaker, which plans to roll out an all-electric vehicle in China in 2020 and expand to other markets including Japan, India and the United States, said it will increase the number of battery electric vehicle models to more than 10 in the first half of the 2020s.

Nissan Leaf's 60 Kwh Battery Option Could Deliver 225+ Miles Of Range

Nissan Leaf's 60 kWh Battery Option Could Deliver 225+ Miles Of Range

When Nissan unveiled the 2018 Leaf many people where surprised the model would have a 40 kWh lithium-ion battery that provides an EPA-estimated range of just 150 miles (241 km).

The decision to use such a small battery enabled the automaker to price the model at $29,990 before incentives but it seemed like an odd choice considering its key rivals offer a significantly longer range. In particular, the entry-level Tesla Model 3 can travel up to 220 miles (354 km) on a single charge while the Chevrolet Bolt can go 238 miles (383 km).
