Publishers flooded with orders for 'Manyoshu'

Monday's announcement of Japan's next imperial era name has triggered a rush of orders to publishers for related books, including the country's oldest existing anthology of poems.

The government on Monday disclosed the name, "Reiwa," for the era starting on May 1, when Crown Prince Naruhito ascends the throne.

A Japanese court has ordered the government and Tokyo Electric Power Company to pay compensation to a group of people who claim their lives were affected by the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant accident in 2011.

The Yokohama District Court handed down its ruling on Wednesday. The case was filed by 175 plaintiffs from 60 households, including Fukushima evacuees who moved to Kanagawa Prefecture. Yokohama is the capital of Kanagawa.

GameStop confirmed via Twitter that because of an “error,” it oversold pre-orders for the Kingdom Hearts 3 PlayStation 4 Pro. As a result of this, “some” pre-orders have had to be canceled. Customers who had their order canceled will receive a $25 gift coupon from the retailer as compensation.
