The Switch has sold more units than the PlayStation 4 in Japan.

The latest sales charts from Famitsu show that the Nintendo Switch has sold 8,125,637 units in Japan compared to the 8,077,756 units for the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 4 Pro combined. That’s certainly an impressive feat.

Ps4 Sales Will Soon Cross 100 Million Units

PS4 Sales Will Soon Cross 100 Million Units

To say that the PlayStation 4 has been a massive hit for Sony would be an understatement. The console has consistently outsold the Xbox One and will soon cross another major milestone. According to the figures officially revealed by Sony, it won’t be long before the PS4 sales cross 100 million units.

Sony did caution last year that the PlayStation 4 sales had fallen for the very first time year-over-year. That has happened once again in 2019 but it’s still a pretty strong showing by Sony’s console. The company sold 17.8 million PS4 units in the fiscal year ending March 31st, slightly down from the 19 million units sold in the previous fiscal year.

Ps4, Nintendo Switch, And Xbox One Being Investigated For Consumer Rights Violation

PS4, Nintendo Switch, And Xbox One Being Investigated For Consumer Rights Violation

The PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One consoles and the companies that make them, Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft respectively are now being investigated for consumer rights violation. The Competition and Markets Authority has announced that it has launched an investigation into numerous business practices exercised by these companies which may violate consumer rights.

The authority is responsible for preventing anti-competitive business activities in the United Kingdom. It has written to these three companies to seek information about their online gaming contracts. Its intentions for the investigation include ascertaining if the contract terms are fair. It will look at whether the auto-renewal process is fair or not and just how easy it is to cancel a pre-order or get a refund. Sony did make a change last week to its digital refund policy which made it easier for users to get refunds.

Sony Will No Longer Allow Retailers To Sell Ps4 Digital Game Codes

Sony Will No Longer Allow Retailers To Sell PS4 Digital Game Codes

This was ideal for customers who would prefer not to hand over payment information like credit card details to companies such as Sony. Unfortunately, that will no longer be an option. Speaking to The Verge, Sony has confirmed that starting 1st of April, retailers will no longer be able to sell digital game codes for the PS4.

A company spokesperson was quoted as saying, “We can confirm that as of April 1, 2019, Sony Interactive Entertainment will no longer offer full games through SIE’s Global Digital at Retail program. This decision was made in order to continue to align key businesses globally. To support full games and premium editions, SIE will introduce increased denominations at select retailers. DLC, add-ons, virtual currency, and season passes will still be available.”

Fortnite Update Forces Xbox One And Ps4 Players To Fight Each Other

Fortnite Update Forces Xbox One And PS4 Players To Fight Each Other

The update will introduce crossplay matching between both consoles and players need to opt-in in order to play. If they don’t, then the game modes that they will be limited to will be Creative Mode and Playgrounds. According to Epic, the reason for this is, “Motivating factor is unlocking optimization potential allowing us to run more playlists during more hours of the day while supporting more data center locations. Please provide us with feedback on your experience!”

It’s actually a rather interesting approach as the debate on which console is better is still very much alive and well, and this forcing of Xbox gamers to fight against PlayStation gamers will go a long way in keeping that rivalry alive and well. It was late last year that Sony had finally allowed PS4 crossplay.

Fix For 'Anthem' Crashing On The PS4 To Be Issued Next Week

This was revealed on Twitter by BioWare’s (the game’s developer) head of live service, Chad Robertson. According to Robertson, “We’ve identified several causes for the temp power-down crash some PS4 users experienced. Fixes for the top issues are in patch next week. If you encounter a game crash where your PS4 console won’t respond, you can manually power down and restart it – no risk of damage.”

As you might have heard, earlier reports suggested that the issues of the game were severe enough where it might put consoles at risk of being bricked, but according to Robertson, he claims that so far they have not encountered any instance of Anthem bricking a PS4 console. “After thorough review, we have not encountered an instance where Anthem has “bricked” a PS4 console. If you are experiencing anything different, please reach out to @EAHelp so we can track the incident and investigate. Thanks for your patience.”

For those who are unfamiliar with Remote Play, this is basically where players can stream games from their PS4 console onto other devices.

Ea Investigating Anthem Crashing On The Ps4

EA Investigating Anthem Crashing On The PS4

Recently it was reported that Sony PS4 players were encountering issues with EA’s latest game, Anthem, where there were reports of players experiencing crashing to the point where it was pretty much unplayable. The good news is that it looks like EA is aware of the issue and are looking into it.

According to a post on the EA website, a community manager writes, “Hey Freelancers. We are currently in process of gathering information about the PS4 issues so we can determine the root cause.” Based on this it sounds like it could still be too early for EA to release a fix which means that we probably shouldn’t expect to see one anytime soon.

Sony Is Refunding Some Ps4 Anthem Players

Sony Is Refunding Some PS4 Anthem Players

BioWare’s launch of Anthem on the PS4 hasn’t been a particularly smooth one. Gamers have been complaining about the game crashing on their console to the point where it is essentially unplayable. Fortunately it seems that according to PS4 gamers, some gamers have had some luck getting refunds.

In a thread posted on Reddit, one user writes, “Sony is aware of the issue and is offering a complete refund on Anthem no questions asked. Took me 5 minutes.” It is unclear if this refund request works for all gamers or if it is on a case-by-case basis, but if you bought Anthem and you’re having issues with it on the PS4, you could try your luck asking for a refund.

The suits are based on Fantastic Four, another one of Marvel’s comic book superheroes, in fact, it’s first modern superhero cohort. While the Fantastic Four has taken a backseat to more popular Marvel characters in the cinematic universe, the comic giant is bringing themed suits to Spider-Man based on Peter Parker’s appearances in Fantastic Four comic issues.

Marvel and Insomniac today announced the addition of two new costumes for Spider-Man in the PlayStation 4 title. They’re part of the patch version 1.14 that’s available for download today. The first is the Bombastic Bag Man Suit. It gives Spider-Man the trademark Fantastic Four blue costume with a paper bag to hide his true identity.

Xbox One Reportedly Sold Half As Many Consoles As Ps4

Xbox One Reportedly Sold Half As Many Consoles As PS4

When it comes to announcing and sharing details about console sales, Sony and Nintendo aren’t too share to reveal those figures. Microsoft on the other hand has been somewhat mum on that for their own reasons, but it seems that there could be a reason why, and that is because the console might not be selling as well as the competition which could make Microsoft look bad.

According to video game industry analyst Daniel Ahmad who works at Niko Partners, he claims that the global install base for the Xbox One is sitting at 41 million to date. That is an impressive figure, but when you consider that the PS4 has sold 91.6 million units to date, then it starts looking a lot less impressive than before.
