Katsuya Takahashi, the last fugitive of the AUM Shinrikyo doomsday cult that unleashed a sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway system in 1995, was apprehended in Tokyo's Ota Ward on Friday morning, police said.
The 54-year-old former cult member was served an arrest warrant on suspicion of murder and attempted murder shortly after his identity was verified by fingerprints. He was held after being found at a comic cafe in Tokyo's Ota ward earlier in the day. Takahashi was later transported to the head office of the Tokyo police for questioning.
