Sony Xperia shipments stabilise in Q2 FY20


Sony has released its fiscal second quarter results for FY2020, which includes the performance for the three months ending 30 September 2020. Sony shipped 600,000 smartphones during this quarter, and the good news is that this is the same number of phones shipped at this point last year. Whilst in the context of other manufacturers this might be faint praise, it's great to see Sony stem the declines we've seen quarter after quarter for the last three years at least.

Shipments of ice have begun in Yamanashi Prefecture, west of Tokyo, two months later than usual due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Blocks of natural ice are used in the food industry to make shaved ice treats and for other purposes. Yatsuyoshi, a company in the city of Hokuto, usually starts shipping to restaurants and hotels in April ahead of the peak summer season.

Sony has finally stem the quarterly decline it saw in Xperia shipments over the prior year, it reported Xperia shipments during the quarter was 1.3 million units. This makes it the highest selling quarter during calendar 2019, although given the decline we've seen over the last couple of years, this bounce is all relative against some very weak numbers.
