Death Stranding PS4 Release Confirmed For November 2019

There has been a lot of anticipation for Hideo Kojima’s next game. It has been teased frequently but those who have been looking forward to it can now breathe a sigh of relief. It has finally been confirmed that the Death Stranding PS4 release will take place in November this year.

Kojima hasn’t revealed much about the game so far. A cryptic Twitch stream has been teasing the game with what felt like gameplay footage but it was difficult to be sure of it. As the stream racked up more viewers, it revealed more footage, ending with a new trailer which introduced us to the main cast of the game. The trailer also confirmed the release date for this title.

Thankfully, the good news is that Sony isn’t doing that. During Sony’s 2019 corporate strategy meeting, the company outlined how the PS4 played a critical role in their strategy, and that they expect that the console “will remain the engine of engagement and profitability for the next three years”.

The presentation was also accompanied by placeholder box art images of games such as The Last Of Us 2 and Death Stranding, hinting that both these games are still very much expected to launch on the PS4, and not the PS5 as previously rumored. It is possible that those games could be launched on both consoles, but if you’re not planning on upgrading just yet, their launch on the PS4 is good news.

Hideo Kojima has been teasing his upcoming game Death Stranding for the past few years. Multiple trailers and teasers for the game have been released to date, but in terms of a release date for the game itself, that remains pretty much unclear, although many seem to be particularly hopeful that a 2019 release is in the cards.

However according to Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter, he begs to differ. Speaking to GamingBolt, Pachter seems to believe that Death Stranding might instead launch in 2020 where it will be released for both the PS4 and PS5, and that it could end up being a game that bridges both console generations.
