NHK has learned that 306 new cases of the coronavirus were reported across Japan as of 3 p.m. on Thursday, taking the total since the start of the outbreak above 100,000.

Japanese authorities confirmed 468 new cases of the coronavirus on Saturday. This brings the total number of infections in the country to more than 30,000, including over 700 cases who were identified onboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship docked near Tokyo earlier this year.
