In regards to the 100 yen per 1 USD exchange rate at a news conference on May 13, Akio Toyoda, Chairman of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association avoided a specific valuation of the rate, saying "It is a reflection of the Bank of Japan's economic policies to combat deflation as well as an economic upturn in the U.S."

On April 10, at the Toyota East Japan Technical Skills Academy (Ohira, Miyagi Prefecture), three Toyota Group companies held a ceremony commemorating Toyota's Tohoku ReBORN Project and the official opening of the Academy. Operational cogeneration electric- and heat-producing facilities were also exhibited.
