Final preparations are underway in the Japanese city of Yokohama which will next week host a three-day conference on economic cooperation between Japan and African countries.
The Tokyo International Conference on African Development, or TICAD, has been held on a regular basis since 1993. Japan has been leading the conference which is co-hosted by the United Nations and other organizations.
LG isn’t known for being quick to release software updates for its devices. The LG G7 didn’t receive its Pie update in the United States after almost a year of its being first rolled out. LG is currently rolling out the Pie update for the V30, a handset launched in 2017, for the international variant only.
LG V30 owners in the United States have drawn the short end of the stick as there’s no confirmation as yet when this update will finally be released for the V30 in the US. LG has released the update so far for the V30’s South Korean and European variants. It’s now rolling out the update for the international variant.
An international educational music festival, co-founded by the late conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein, has opened in Sapporo, in the northern Japanese prefecture of Hokkaido.
Some 100 young musicians from 26 countries and regions performed in Saturday's opening concert of the 30th Pacific Music Festival. The program featured Bernstein's Candide Overture and Haydn's Concerto for Two Horns.
World leaders have gathered in Osaka for the G20 summit. The two-day meeting comes at a time of heightened global tensions, including the ongoing US-China trade war and the friction between Washington and Tehran.

Voters across Japan are casting ballots in the second round of local elections to pick mayors and local assembly members. The races coincide with two Lower House by-elections that are seen as a bellwether for the Upper House elections this summer.
One of the by-elections is taking place in Okinawa. The ruling and opposition blocs are effectively facing off over plans to relocate a US airbase within the southern prefecture. The constituency, Okinawa's number-3 electoral district, includes the Henoko district of the city f Nago, where the central government is carrying out land reclamation to relocate the US Marine Corps' Futenma Air Station.
The operator of the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant began removing nuclear fuel rods from a storage pool in one of the damaged reactor buildings on Monday.
This is the first time Tokyo Electric Power Company has removed fuel from any of the three buildings housing reactors that melted down after an earthquake and tsunami in northeastern Japan in 2011.
