Flood-hit Triple Water Wheels Restart Irrigation

Flood-hit triple water wheels restart irrigation

Three antique water wheels in Kyushu, western Japan, are back on the job. They had been put out of service by mudslides caused by last year's torrential rains in northern Kyushu.

The "Triple Water Wheels" in Asakura city, Fukuoka Prefecture, were built more than 200 years ago.
They have national historic monument status as the oldest active irrigation water wheels in the country.
