The anticipated Sony Ericsson Xperia ray has just hit pre-order in the UK. It is a black sim-free variant up for pre-order for £349.99 and a 15th August release date.
This puts it in the same price frame as the Xperia neo which has a 3.7-inch display versus the 3.3-inch display of the Xperia neo. We’d imagine the price should settle closer to the £300 shortly after launch .
Sony Ericsson’s other new addition to its Android range today is the Xperia active. As the name suggests, the handset is aimed for the sporty types and will come with a 3-inch (320 x 480) dust proof and water resistant display.
The display also has wet finger tracking that means it can be used perfectly even if your fingers are wet.
Sony Ericsson has announced a number of new handsets today at CommunicAsia, just as we expected them too. The most exciting is the Xperia ray which you should think of a smaller version of the Xperia arc. It comes with a 3.3-inch display but retains the same 854 x 480 pixel resolution found in the larger 4.2-inch Xperia arc.
Sony is apparently preparing to launch a new Android-powered smartphone that will have a dual-core processor. The name has even been trademarked already – it will be called Sony Ericsson Xperia Duo.
The S/B line will get an Intel Core i3 option which allows Sony to bring the starting price down to $899. Yet, Sony considers the Vaio S/B (with Core i5, $969) to be a powerful competitor for all its rivals.
