Sony Mobile has been rolling out a new firmware update for its flagship Xperia XZ3 and XZ2 family (Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Compact and XZ2 Premium), which moves the firmware number from 52.0.A.8.14 to build version 52.0.A.8.25. The latest update includes the 1 April 2019 Android security patches. Imaging specialists DxOMark have finally put the Sony Xperia XZ3 camera through its paces, giving the phone a score of 79 overall. For context, this is below that achieved by the Xperia XZ Premium (83), and above that of the Xperia XA2 Ultra (75). It is the same score achieved by the budget Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018).

Last year saw four Xperia products pick up iF Design Awards, including a Gold Award for the Xperia XZ1. The Xperia XZ3 was the first Sony phone to use an OLED display, and came with a seamless design appealing to the mass market including the use of a 3D curved display.

The handset is available in three colours (Black, Forest Green and White Silver) at both Amazon and Best Buy for $899.99. The other day the folks at PhoneBuff ran a battery test that compared the iPhone Xs Max against the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. On paper the Note 9 had a larger battery which is why it wasn’t surprising that in their test, they found that the Note 9 managed to trounce the iPhone Xs Max in terms of battery life.

However in a video uploaded by Mrwhosetheboss, it seems to paint a very different picture when he compared the iPhone Xs Max against the Note 9, the Pixel 3 XL, and the Sony Xperia XZ3.
