Sony Mobile is rolling out a new firmware update for the Xperia XZ3 and XZ2 family (Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Compact and XZ2 Premium) today. The new firmware moves the build number from 52.0.A.8.50 to version 52.0.A.8.83, and adds the 1 June 2019 Android security patches. No other changes have been noticed. Google announced further details of Android 10 Q last night, including the news that the latest Beta (v3) will be available to 21 phones in all. The full list can be found here, and the great news for Xperia fans is that the Xperia XZ3 is on the list. Android Q brings a number of new features including the much awaited dark mode (great for the XZ3's OLED display), new gestures, live captioning, as well as stronger privacy and security controls. Sony Mobile has been rolling out a new firmware update for its flagship Xperia XZ3 and XZ2 family (Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Compact and XZ2 Premium), which moves the firmware number from 52.0.A.8.14 to build version 52.0.A.8.25. The latest update includes the 1 April 2019 Android security patches. Imaging specialists DxOMark have finally put the Sony Xperia XZ3 camera through its paces, giving the phone a score of 79 overall. For context, this is below that achieved by the Xperia XZ Premium (83), and above that of the Xperia XA2 Ultra (75). It is the same score achieved by the budget Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018).

Last year saw four Xperia products pick up iF Design Awards, including a Gold Award for the Xperia XZ1. This year, Sony is once again not empty-handed, as the Xperia XZ3 has won a 2019 iF Design Award. It's very much a worthy winner. The Xperia XZ3 was the first Sony phone to use an OLED display, and came with a seamless design appealing to the mass market including the use of a 3D curved display.

If you are a Sony Xperia fan and are in the United States, then you'll be glad to hear that the Xperia XZ3 has now been released. The handset is available in three colours (Black, Forest Green and White Silver) at both Amazon and Best Buy for $899.99.
