Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey To Get VR Support For Nintendo Labo

Last month to everyone’s surprise, Nintendo announced a new Labo kit that basically introduced virtual reality (VR) features to the Switch. Given that the last time Nintendo attempted anything VR was with the Virtual Boy, it did come out of the blue. For those who need more reason to pick up the Labo kit, Nintendo has announced some updates for their existing games.

If you own The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and/or Super Mario Odyssey, Nintendo has announced that they will be updating both games where they will now support VR on the Labo kit. With Super Mario Odyssey, the update is expected to add three new mini-missions where users will be able to collect musical notes and coins, while Breath of the Wild will give users the ability to active the Toy-Con VR Goggles.

Another Zelda Game Could Be Released In 2019

Earlier this year it was announced that the Nintendo Switch would be getting a new Zelda game in the form of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. However it seems that there could be a chance that we could be getting more than just one Zelda game this year because in a post on GameFAQs, there could be another that might be announced soon.

In a post by user Vergeben (via Nintendo Life), he says that there could be another Zelda game in the works, but apparently this particular title will not be for the Nintendo Switch. Instead it will be aimed at Nintendo’s handheld consoles and will be released as a 2D title on the Nintendo eShop.

This is why it doesn’t really come as a surprise to learn that half of Nintendo Switch owners own a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, and/or Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

This is according to Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime who spoke to IGN about the attachment rate for some of the company’s flagship titles. “Those three games continue to attach to hardware at better than 50 percent. Just think about that. For everyone who owns a system, more than one out of every two have bought Zelda, more than one out of every two have bought Kart, more than one out of every two have bought Odyssey. That’s never happened in U.S. video game history.”
