Last year to everyone’s surprise, Nintendo launched the NES Classic Edition, which is basically a re-release of the NES console that came with various NES games preinstalled. This year we got the SNES Classic and based on this pattern, it seems like the company is interested in revisiting some of its older consoles.
In fact a trademark filing discovered a few months ago seemed to indicate that the next console to be released in "Classic Edition" form would be the N64. However that might not be all because there is a chance we could be getting a Nintendo Game Boy Classic Edition as well, or at least that’s what a recent trademark has indicated. In a Japanese Twitter account that seems to track trademarks (via Sora News 24; via Fortune), it makes mention of the Game Boy.

However the trademark filing does not mention the term "Classic Edition", but like we said there seems to be a pattern and we wouldn’t be completely surprised if a Game Boy Classic Edition were to surface at some point in time. It is unclear if and when that might happen since 2018 is most likely the year we’ll see the N64 Classic Edition (if it ever materializes).
In any case maybe we shouldn’t read too much into this for now, so do take it with a grain of salt. However would you be interested in a Game Boy Classic Edition should it be released?
