Kyocera announced a new Android smartphone today entitled Duraforce PRO. The smartphone is part of the Duraforce series which incorporates various rugged smartphones with IP68 certification and other enhancements.
The main selling point for Duraforce PRO is the fact that the smartphone comes with a wide lens action camera, making it the world’s first rugged 4G LTE smartphone to come with such a feature, or at least that’s what the company claims.
The company said that the Duraforce PRO will be marketed as an affordable and dependable smartphone for both business users and consumers. The smartphone comes with a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP camera in the front.
It also has added functionality for dedicated action-camera devices and comes with IP68 certification, which means that it can be used for snapping pictures and filming videos underwater. IP68 certification means that the smartphone can be submerged for up to 30 minutes under 2 meters of water.
The smartphone also comes with Military Standard 810G for protection against dust, shock, vibration, extreme temperatures, rain, low pressure, solar radiation and many more. The smartphone comes has a 5-inch FHD display with impact-resistant touchscreen and draws power from a 3,240mAh battery with Quick Charge and wireless charging.

It also comes with an octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor with X8 LTE and it supports Wi-Fi with 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/r/k, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Mobile Hot Spot (for up to ten devices), Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, Miracast and USB 2.0.
Duraforce PRO has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory and has a dedicated side button for Push-To-Talk (PTT) which can be set to be used as a one-touch access to a certain feature or application. The smartphone comes with a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty and it runs Android Marshmallow 6.0.1.
Kyocera Duraforce PRO will be available in the US in the next few months and T-Mobile could be one of the carriers, although that remains to be seen.
