After releasing the Latest Firmware for Nikon 1 Cameras as well as the Nikon D800 and D800E DSLR Cameras Firmware 1.10, the producer has just outed two new updates targeted at its COOLPIX S3000 and S5200 cameras, namely firmware version 1.3 and 1.2, respectively.
When it comes to changes, while the COOLPIX S3000-related package resolves an issue that prevented the battery from charging (encountered in very rare cases), the S5200 1.2 update fixes the problem that caused loud sounds to be distorted when recording with “Wind noise reduction” set to “On.”
As for the downloadable files, the producer has made available two packages for each of the aforementioned cameras: one compatible with Microsoft’s Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1 platforms, and one suitable for the Mac OS.
If you intend to update you camera to the latest firmware, first check the currently installed version to make sure you camera isn’t already running the present release. To do so, go to Menu ? Setup tab, highlight the “Firmware Version” option, and press the “Ok” button.
Now, simply get and run the proper file for your system configuration, copy the “firmware.bin” file from within the newly-created firmware folder onto a formatted memory card, and initiate the upgrade from the device’s setup menu.
