Nikon has released the latest iteration of its workhorse 70-200mm F2.8 lens. The AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm F2.8E FL ED VR, as it is known, has a new optical design, improved Vibration Reduction as well as an electromagnetic diaphragm.
The lens has a total of 22 elements, including six ED, one fluorite and one high refractive index element. A Nano Crystal Coat reduces flare and ghosting while fluorine coatings on the front and rear glass helps prevent smudging. Vibration Reduction has been improved, now reducing shake by four stops (vs 3.5). The electromagnetic diaphragm allows for responsive adjustment and the ability to adjust the aperture in live view and movie mode on all camera bodies, and assignable function buttons on the lens barrel allow for quick engagement of pre-set autofocus settings or other focus options.
You'll be able to pick up this 1.4 kg (3 lb) beast next month for $2799.95.
