New Hi-Res Mics Deliver High-frequency Response up to 50kHz; 3rd Gen DWX Wireless Offers Ultra-low Audio Latency of 1.2ms, Extended Bandwidth & High-density Multi-channel Operation
At Winter NAMM 2018 (booth #10720), Sony’s pro audio group is showcasing its latest developments in microphone technology – from the 3rd generation of the DWX wireless series to the latest high-resolution microphones.
Designed for professional studio and home recording applications, Sony’s three new ultra-compact High-Resolution microphones build on Sony’s legendary studio microphone heritage and continue its recent development of Hi-Res audio products.
The new Hi-Res models include a side address mic, C-100, optimized for vocal use, and two end address "pencil" models (one cardioid: ECM-100U and one omnidirectional: ECM-100N), both ideal for instruments. With a body structure that prevents acoustic vibration, a high-frequency response up to 50kHz and high sensitivity, the new microphones are designed to offer unrivaled sound quality.

Sony’s 3rd Generation DWX Wireless Mic Series
Suited for theater, broadcast or other live applications, Sony’s 3rd generation DWX series delivers ultra-low audio latency of 1.2ms with extended bandwidth and high-density multi-channel operation.
A high dynamic range RF circuit and 4 diversity antenna configuration ensures reliable operation, and the system supports Dante®, a digital audio over IP networking technology. The new DWX components include the smaller and lightweight DWT-B03R digital wireless bodypack transmitter, the DWR-R03D digital wireless rackmount receiver, the BC-DWX1 battery charger and the ECM-77LM miniature, omnidirectional electret condenser microphone.
Key features of the new DWX products include:
The small, lightweight and sweat-proof bodypack transmitter is ideal for theater, drama and movie production. It offers ultra-low audio latency of 1.2ms, with 148MHz wideband operation, and uses a rechargeable Li-ion battery for extended operation.
The 1U ultra-wideband 2-channel rack-mount receiver (244MHz) is equipped with two Dante Ports, which provide network redundancy, and headphone monitoring with loop-thru capability. Additionally, both Analog and AES/EBU outputs are provided as well as AES 256bit encryption. A high dynamic range RF circuit provides enhanced performance, and 4 diversity antenna operation ensures stable reception. The included Wireless Studio software is compatible with the DWR-R03D and BC-DWX1 and provides system control and monitoring of all vital functions while the front panel equipped with two OLED displays provides direct access to menus via simplified controls.
The battery charger for DWT-B03R and NP-BX1 is equipped with Power over Ethernet (PoE) capabilities. Users can monitor the charging status via PC software, and can also charge up to two bodypacks or two batteries at one time. The BC-DWX1 includes an interlocking mechanism which allows easy integration for storage and transportation.
The new addition ECM-77LM miniature, omnidirectional electret condenser microphone now uses the small 3-pin connector. It provides a wide frequency response, high sensitivity and low-noise characteristics.
These new products complement Sony’s full line of professional audio technologies including the MDR Series of headphones, wireless microphone systems, and portable field recorders.
