Sony Playstation 5 Release Date Confirmed

Sony PlayStation 5 Release Date Confirmed

So we’ve known for a while that Sony is working on their next-gen PlayStation console, so the question is when will the console be released? This is important as some gamers who have yet to hop on board the PS4 bandwagon might instead choose to hold out for the PS5 instead of buying the current-gen console.

The good news is that Sony has since confirmed that the PS5 console will be launched in time for Holiday 2020. There are no specific dates mentioned but given that they said the Holiday season of 2020, it means that it will probably be towards the end of the year. If you still want the PS4, we suppose this gives you at least a year before the PS5 is released.

This also seems to be in line with an earlier report that said that the PS5 will not be launched in the next 12 months, and this was reported back in April. Sony has yet to fully detail the console, but their latest blog post reveals that there will be some changes made to the PS5’s controllers. This includes replacing the current “rumble” technology with haptic feedback, meaning that the vibrations that gamers feel will be more nuanced, similar to the Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Cons.

There will also be the introduction of “adaptive triggers” which Sony claims will allow developers to program the resistance of the triggers, giving gamers a more realistic feel in certain situations, like the drawing of a bow and arrow or accelerating a vehicle through rocky terrain. Sony states that more details of the console will be shared in the year ahead, so check back with us later if you’d like more details.
