More good news for non-Xperia Z owners, as the Lollipop firmware is slowly making its way to additional smartphones. We reported earlier this month a new Lollipop update for Xperia C3 has been approved by Bluetooth SIG and is expected to be released soon.
Now, another Lollipop firmware for a non-Xperia Z smartphone, the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra, has been spotted at Bluetooth SIG.
According to the listing, the “Tianchi Update to L” (design model number Yukon 1.2) has been approved at Bluetooth SIG recently.
The new version hasn't received a release date yet, but since it was approve on March 21, we expect Sony to make an official announcement very soon.
Unfortunately, pinpointing a release date for Android 5.0 Lollipop update for an Xperia smartphone is a bit hard because Sony asks for approval even before the new firmware has been tested thoroughly by customers.
Basically, this means that if Sony's engineers find one or more bugs that need to be fixed, then the new firmware won't be released and another one will be listed at Bluetooth SIG for approval.
