Great Wall's Tank 100 Small Suv Steals The Suzuki Jimny's Look

China’s Great Wall Motors has just unveiled an intriguing rival to the Suzuki Jimny through its Tank brand.

The tiny off-roader, dubbed the Tank 100, has been shown in both three- and five-door guise and has an exterior design immediately reminiscent of the Jimny. In fact, if you cover up the car’s front end, you could be easily fooled into thinking this is indeed a Suzuki.

Found at the front of the Tank 100 is an all-black grille flanked by circular headlights with horizontal daytime running lights and turn signals. The off-roader’s front bumper is also finished in black and sports two circular fog lights.

Viewed from the side, the similarities to the Jimny are especially striking. There are flared wheel arches clad in black, black door handles, black wing mirrors and side windows that perfectly mimic the shape of the Jimny’s windows. Found at the rear are red taillights, an upright window, and a spare wheel with a wheel cover on the tailgate.

Images of the vehicle’s interior aren’t available yet but the cabin is said to be very similar to the larger Tank 300. As such, the Jimny rival could sport a large infotainment screen and a digital gauge cluster. The Tank 300 also features large circular climate control vents which could make their way into the 100 as well.

Powertrain details have also yet to be confirmed but some media outlets suggest it could get the same powertrain options as the larger Tank 300, which include a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 224 hp and 285 lb-ft (387 Nm) of torque, more than double the power of the Jimny’s 1.5-liter engine. A diesel could also be on the cards.
