Japan Pledges Contribution To Carbon - Free World

Japan pledges contribution to carbon-free world

Japan's Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide says the country is committed to making its contribution toward a world free of carbon emissions.

On Wednesday, he spoke at the first meeting of a government expert panel on realizing a carbon-free society, ahead of international climate talks, including COP26.

Suga said tackling climate change and advancing de-carbonization are pressing issues on a global scale.

Suga said long-term, robust economic growth is possible for Japan if the nation is able to turn the economic restraints that would come with the carbon neutrality drive into business opportunities.

Suga said his government will study ways for Japan to contribute to the movement and lead the international community in discussions.
