Japan Women's Hockey Team Advances To Quarterfinal

In the Beijing Winter Olympics, Japan's women's ice hockey team played host China on Sunday. Japan lost in a penalty shootout, but still secured a spot in the quarterfinal for the first time ever.
Japan's Hosoyamada Akane scored in the first period to give her team the lead.
After going scoreless in the second period, China put the puck in the net at the beginning of the third to tie things up.
Neither team could add to the tally for the remainder of the game, or the 5 minutes of overtime.
That meant it came down to a penalty shootout. Japan came out on the short end, zero to one.
But it still got a point for the game, which was enough to get it into the quarterfinal for the first time.
