Kazuo Ishiguro's New Novel Released Worldwide

Kazuo Ishiguro's new novel released worldwide

The latest novel by Nobel Prize winning Japanese-born British author Kazuo Ishiguro hit the shelves on Tuesday.

"Klara and the Sun" became available at bookstores across the world. It is Ishiguro's first novel since he won a Nobel Prize in Literature in 2017.

The book's protagonist is an AI-powered robot named Klara, which was developed to serve as a children's playmate. The story looks at the friendship between the AI and a teenage girl.

A bookshop in Tokyo's Shinjuku Ward created a special section dedicated to the book. A clerk said there were many orders and inquiries about the book before its release, indicating the public's high interest in it.

Hayakawashobo, which publishes the Japanese version of the book, has printed 50,000 copies, and said it had already decided to come out with another 15,000.

Ishiguro was born in Nagasaki Prefecture, southwestern Japan, and moved to Britain with his family when he was five years old. He has produced several global bestsellers since 1982. "Klara and the Sun" is his first novel since "The Buried Giant," published in 2015.
