Pupils Paint Pictures To Help Bus Company
Children in the western Japanese city of Tottori have painted colorful pictures to help a bus company whose business is struggling during the coronavirus pandemic.
About 60 elementary school pupils took part in a socially distanced event on Sunday organized by a bus association and a chamber of commerce.
The children colored sketches drawn on two buses by local high school students.
The designs include the famous sand dunes in Tottori Prefecture and Amabie, a Japanese "yokai" monster.
Legend has it that seeing a picture of the monster will help to end a plague.
A second-grade girl said working on the small parts is difficult, and she gives her painting 85 points out of 100. She also said she hopes the colorful buses will cheer people up.
The buses will be in operation in the eastern parts of the prefecture for about three months from Tuesday.
