Tokyo Reports 293 New Coronavirus Cases Saturday
Officials with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government say 293 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in the capital on Saturday.
The average number of new cases for the seven days through Saturday in Tokyo was 267.3, or 99.3 percent of the average for the preceding week.
On Friday, the weekly average was over 100 percent of that for a week before.
These figures suggest that the downtrend in new infections is halting.
The total number of people who have tested positive for the virus in the capital since the pandemic began now stands at 113,218.
