Media Views Tokyo Athletes' Village

Members of the media have received a tour of the Olympic athletes' village in a waterfront area of Tokyo.
There are three zones -- an operations zone, a large residential zone and a village plaza -- within the 44-hectare village in Harumi in Chuo ward.
Organizers of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games have shown the media around the plaza which spans over 5,000 square meters on Sunday. It has a bank, a cafe, a post office and a general store.
The building features about 40,000 pieces of timber from various municipalities in Japan.
The residential zone can house up to 18,000 athletes and staff. A village clinic is installed in the zone. As coronavirus infection is a major concern, a fever outpatient center and a station to collect specimen for testing will be set up separately near the clinic.
Olympic participants can arrive in the village five days prior to their competition and leave within two days after their competitions.
Paralympic participants can begin their stay at the village seven days prior to their competition.
The village will officially open on July 13.
