Canon Confirms EOS R3 Mirrorless Camera Is Coming Soon

There have been rumors suggesting that Canon could be developing a new mirrorless camera in the form of the EOS R3. To help dispel the rumors and speculation about what kind of specs and features are coming, Canon has since come forward to acknowledge that the rumors are true and that the EOS R3 is coming soon.

The company is saving the official announcement for a later date, but they did confirm some of the features that we can look forward to. One of which is how the EOS R3 will be the company’s first camera to feature a BSI stacked CMOS sensor, which should result in faster readout speeds and performance.

The EOS R3 will also be powered by Canon’s Digic X image processor that will help the camera deliver up to 30 fps shooting speeds in electronic shutter mode, making it the perfect camera for news and sports photography where you need to be able to capture photos in the moment and you don’t want them to be blurred or miss out on a potential special moment.

Interestingly enough for a mirrorless camera, it seems that Canon will be revisiting an older design where they will be adopting a “professional” body inspired by the EOS 1D series. No word on pricing or availability, so we’ll have to wait for the official announcement for those details.
